Apple No Longer Offering 24 Hour Dispatch In Some International Online Stores

Apple Store 24 hour
Apple seems to be no longer committing to dispatching products sold through some international online Apple Stores within 24 hours, according to some changes spotted on the Apple Store website. The company previously offered 24 hour dispatch for the majority of the products offered on some international online Apple Stores, in sections such as iPod, Mac and iPhone, or the accessories pages for these items. Whereas yesterday, the majority of items were listed as dispatching within 24 hours, all items are now listed as dispatching within 1-2 business days. This is a particularly significant change if shopping for an item at the weekend on a non-business day.

The reason for the change is unknown, whether it is due to a new policy that has been implemented in some international Apple Stores, or whether the company cannot guarantee meeting demand for an product within 24 hours. The change seems only to apply to certain stores in countries such as Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Apple Launches New Online Store Front

Apple Store

Apple has today made a few significant changes to the front page of the online Apple Store, opting for a more minimalist look, with bigger pictures and less text links on either side of the page. The new look of the Store places product images front and center and is focused upon a product structured navigation system. An example of this is that users can find iPhone accessories by going through the iPhone product image links, and clicking on an ‘iPhone Accessories’ link in the top navigation bar.

With less text links, the Store offers a cleaner look, but more than this, the Store offers a slightly different design, with the boxes surrounding the images more squared off and looking more like tiles. The Store now also places a significant amount of emphasis on third party accessories and peripherals for Apple products.

Apple Store Is Now Offering Free Next Day Shipping In USA

iPhone 5 Front
Apple has just updated their online store in the US to offer free next day shipping on everything in the Store in order that folks buying Apple gear can manage to get it in time for Christmas. The next day shipping is, at present, onlybeing specified for the US Apple Store (it’s not available free in the UK for instance), but it will mean that any last minute purchases should be received in time for the holidays.

The exceptions to the rule include the highly popular iPad mini which is listing as shipping within 1 week, meaning that it’s unlikely that you will get one ahead of Christmas if you were to order now. The 21.5 inch iMac is also in short supply with shipping not happening for around 7-10 days, and of course, the 27 inch model is not shipping until January.

New Apple Store Link Highlights Statutory Seller Warranty In EU

The Apple Store went down overnight and, disappointingly for some, came back with no big changes or new products. However, one change was that notable for many European Online Apple Stores, such as the UK Apple Store, was the addition of a small link at the bottom of the page which, in English speaking countries, is labelled ‘Statutory Seller Warranty’. The link takes customers to a page which details statutory warranty rights for consumers who buy Apple products in the European Union.

The statutory warranty in the EU, laid down by consumer law, gives consumers protection in addition to the coverage offered by Apple’s product warranties. One notable difference between the what Apple offers and what is stated in EU law relates to the time period that consumers have when they wish to make a claim against a product warranty. As detailed by the document on the Apple site, there is a 2 year warranty claim period under EU Consumer Law whereas Apple only offers a 1 year warranty from date of purchase for customers outwith the EU.
