Awesome Images Of The 13 Inch Retina MacBook Pro Appear

A few nifty new images of what is purported to be the new 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro have appeared on a Chinese Forum Site. The images were found on WeiPhone (via MacRumors) and appears to show the port configuration of the new device as well as some as the internals. Screenshots of the new display are also shown, with one demonstrating that the MacBook will have a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

The pictures of the device are pretty small, but the author of the post actually does go some lengths to demonstrate the thin form factor of the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro to the 13 inch MacBook Air with some comparative pictures. In addition, there are a few photos of the internals of the device showing the battery and the processor unit.

Rumor: The Price Of A New 13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro

With the launch of the highly anticipated 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro expected to take place at the Apple media event on October 23, many potential buyers will be starting to think about the price of the new Mac and whether they want to go ahead and drop the cash. A new report from 9to5Mac claims to have the wholesale prices for the new 13 inch Retina Display version and the base model will apparently come in at $1699 which is around $100 more than we’d originally predicted and a supplement of $500 over the 13 inch non-retina display MacBook Pro.

Apparently the higher spec model of the Retina Display version will come in at around $2000 which is $300 more than the base model. The report also goes on to say that there may be some initial constraints on the supply of the new devices, but this will obviously be dependent upon demand.

13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro To Appear Alongside iPad Mini

A new report is suggesting that the iPad mini will not be the only new Apple device that is unveiled at an Apple media event set to take place on October 23. According to 9to5Mac, the company will also be using the opportunity of gathering some enthusiastic media together to take the wraps off a 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro to partner up with the well received and highly successful 15 inch model that was released earlier this year.

As with the existing 15 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro, the new report is suggesting that the 13 inch model will launch in two configurations, one as a base model, and a higher end version with faster processor and more storage. Previous rumors have also suggested that Apple was preparing to launch a 13 inch Retina Display version of the new MacBook Pro, but that timelines were fairly fluid regarding production of the new devices.

Rumor: 13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro Launching Soon

A new rumor has emerged today suggesting that a 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro will be unleashed upon the public in the coming weeks. Analyst Richard Shim of DisplaySearch is saying that Apple will be engaging in mass production of the 13 inch Retina Display model in Q4 of 2012 (via CNET). The launch of the new Mac is expected to take place shortly after the announcement of the iPad mini which is expected to be in October.

The analyst also suggests that the new MacBook Pro will be in possession of a 2560×1600 pixel resolution which is double that the of the existing 13 inch MacBook Pro models. While no details have yet emerged from Apple regarding any prices or even the existance of such a device, we did some rudimentary calculations and forecast the price of the new MacBook Pro model lying between $1499 and $1599 for the base model.

Yay! Rumor: A 13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro Is Already In Production

A new report is suggesting that Apple has issued a production order for high resolution screens for a 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro. According to CNET, the company has begun producing screens with a 2560 x 1600 pixel density that are destined for a 13 inch Retina Display on the MacBook Pro. The information comes from NPD analyst Richard Shim, who has supply chain sources that are saying that the screen are already in production and that it is for a 13.3 inch MacBook Pro.

The screen are apparently being sourced from Sharp, Samsung and LGD, but the analyst seems pretty sure that they are destined for a 13 inch MacBook Pro, rather than a highly desirable 13 inch MacBook Air, which doesn’t seem on the cards any time soon. Consistent with today’s report, we did some calculations on what the specifications for a 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro would look like with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, and the price of the new 13 inch model would likely fall between $1499 and $1599 for the base model.

Looks Like OS X 10.8.1 Update Will Sort Any Battery Life Problems

A new report is suggesting that the next update that will be released for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion will address some of the issues that some users have been experiencing with reduced battery life in various MacBook models. According to Softpedia, an update will address the original issue whereby some users who installed Mountain Lion were observing greatly reduced battery life compared to what they had been used to when running OS X 10.7 Lion. So it looks like Apple has been working on the problem and appear to have fixed it.

Some Calculations On The Specifications Of A 13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro

Apple is rumored to be working on a 13 inch Retina Display-enabled MacBook Pro to complement the 15 inch new MacBook Pro that was released in June of this year. Recent benchmark results have revealed an as-yet-unreleased MacBook Pro device (coded MacBook Pro 10,2), so with that in mind, we thought it would be fun to predict the specifications, based on proportional calculation, of the new device.

The price of the new 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro will lie somewhere between $1499 and $1599 for the base model (likely the higher price point). The higher end of that estimation stems from the fact that there is a $400 supplement for the 15 inch Retina Display model over the standard 15 inch model and if the same were applied to the non-Retina Display 13 inch MacBook Pro ($1199 base) then $1599 is the high figure. That said, the 15 inch non-Retina MacBook Pro is 50% higher in cost compared to the 13 inch non-Retina version, so if that were applied to the price of the 15 inch model, then the figure ends up being around $1499.

Rumor: 13 Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro Coming Soon

A new report has identified that a Retina MacBook Pro is currently being tested by Apple and that it could be released soon. According to MacRumors, some benchmarks for a brand new MacBook Pro coded ’10,2′ have shown up in the Geekbench benchmarking database. The new model, which is as yet unreleased, has a 2.9 GHz Core i7-3520M processor, which co-incidentally is the same processor found in the 13 inch MacBook Pro that does not have a Retina Display.

Ever since the launch of the 15 inch new MacBook Pro with Retina Display, a 13 inch Retina version has been rumored to be in the works, although there has been no evidence as yet that Apple had been working on such a device. While Geekbench results can be faked with Hackintosh systems, the new discovery has a substantial number of consistencies with what could be found in a 13 inch display, that it becomes more convincing.

Users Reporting Mountain Lion Installation Results In Reduced Battery Life

A new report has pointed to a large number of users on Apple support forums that are complaining about reduced battery life on various MacBook models following the installation of the latest Mac operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. As highlighted by Ars Technica, there are a substantial number of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air users who are suggesting that battery life has been decreased by up to half.

From personal experience, it doesn’t seem to be an issue. With a 2011 MacBook Air, battery life after full charge is staying pretty consistent with Lion, with 4.5 hours of estimated usage time left being reported. Whether or not this estimate is actually accurate is perhaps the issue, but the battery doesn’t seem to be draining any faster.
