A new set of pictures has appeared that show the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 side by side, giving a better idea of the changes in design that will be seen when the as-yet-unannounced iPad 3 is expected to be announced next month. The pictures, from MICGadget, appear to show the two iPad models on top of each other from various angles and, if accurate, seem to show that the iPad 3 is marginally thicker than the iPad 2, as has been rumored previously.
In addition, the new iPad 3 has more tapering of the aluminum rear panel near the edges of the device which is likely to make the device ‘feel’ very thin to users that handle it, despite the fact that it seems to be a little thicker than the iPad 2. The pictures also seem to indicate that Apple certainly isn’t varying very far from the design of the iPad 2 and that it would be very difficult to tell the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 apart without looking very closely.
