Rumor: New Mac Model Numbers Leaked

A new report from 9to5Mac is apparently detailing the model numbers of some of the new Macs that are set to be released next week at the WWDC conference. According to the site the following model numbers refer to configurations of new Macs set to be released by Apple but unfortunately don’t provide information on exactly what models they are; MD711LL/A (Better), MD712LL/A (Best), MD760LL/A (Better), MD761LL/A (Best). The MacBook Air and the Retina Display MacBook Pro are expected to be updated next week so it is likely that the new model numbers could correlate with new versions of these devices.

Refurbished 7th Generation iPod Nano Now Available At Discount

The newest version of the iPod nano has today been made available in the refurbished Apple Store offering a significant saving of almost 15% on the price of the device. The 7th generation model, which features a new design, Bluetooth connectivity and a 2.5 inch display, is being offered in the refurbished store for $129 for the 16GB model. This represents a saving of $20 on the price for a brand new version which currently retails for $149 on Apple, although some colors are available on Amazon for $140.

iMessage Is Highly Secure

The encryption technology that Apple uses for its iMessage messaging system is highly secure, according to a leaked memo from US law enforcement agencies noting that it is very difficult to intercept messages sent using the service. The memo came into the possession of CNET who have noted that, even when mandated by a court order for message tapping, it is likely impossible to intercept iMessages sent between two or more Apple devices.

Movies Via iTunes In The Cloud Launches In New European Countries

Apple has today rolled out additional offerings for their iTunes in the Cloud service to 11 new European countries. The company has made available new movie support for iTunes in the Cloud meaning that users are able to re-download content that they have already purchased and downloaded from iTunes (via MacRumors). The addition of this new functionality joins the existing ability to re-download music from iTunes in the Cloud.

FaceSaver For Facebook Offers An ‘Inoffensive’ Timeline

A new app has been launched today which claims to be able to ‘clean’ inappropriate content from the timeline of a Facebook page. The app, called FaceSaver, apparently is able to discover around 2-3 times more inappropriate content than other Facebook cleaning apps because it is able to recognize some common rude and slang terms that others do not.

The app, published by Belfast developer group System Ready, scans a user’s entire timeline for inappropriate text, which includes wall posts, status updates and comments. The database to which it is compared against contains over 1000 ‘inappropriate’ terms and will allow easy deletion of any offending text. The typical scan takes around 30 seconds and allows users to delete comments individually.

iOS 6.1 JailBreak To Be Released Today

The jailbreak for iOS 6.1 for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch will apparently be released at some point today, according to tweets from the Evad3rs team responsible for the Evasi0n jailbreak. The website for the jailbreak is currently listing the progress to release at 98% and according to a tweet yesterday from the official Evad3rs Twitter accounts, the jailbreak will be released to the public at some point today.

Apple is apparently working to make the next generation of Numbers for iWork a reality as they looking to hire a Software Engineer to work as part of the Numbers team. The position, posted on Apple’s recruitment site, offers the opportunity ‘to deliver beautiful and engaging applications on the Mac and iPad platforms’ for the future direction of the software.

An iPad Is More Romantic Than Flowers

Apple has made some changes to their Online Store in many countries to reflect the upcoming celebrations associated with Valentine’s Day. The iPad and the iPad mini are given top billing, together with the iPod touch and iPod nano as apparently ‘there’s more than one way to say I love you’. The company has also posted shipping deadlines for many of their popular products to make sure that buyers can get them in time for Valentine’s Day. It is worth noting, however, that the iPad mini is in the highest demand, requiring orders for standard shipping by January 30.

Rumor: Less Expensive iPhone Goes Back To Plastic

Some more details concerning a less-expensive iPhone have appeared, with Digitimes claiming to have sources that are suggesting that the budget iPhone will be chiefly comprised of a plastic exterior, instead of the aluminum and glass panels on the current models. According to the site, the new model will have a mixture of a metal and plastic exterior ‘with the internal metal parts being able to be seen from outside through special design’.

The Apple Fusion Drive Is Now Available In Lowest Price 21.5 Inch iMac

The Fusion Drive, one of the new features of the recently launched iMac revamp, is now being offered as an option to consumers looking to purchase the entry level 21.5 inch iMac (via MacGeneration). Previously, the Fusion Drive was only available to those who were buying the upgraded 21.5 inch iMac as well as the 27 inch version of the iMac.
