According to a new report from John Gruber of Daring Fireball, the first major update to iOS 7, iOS 7.1, will likely be released ‘any day now’. The update will apparently contain support for the SXSW app which will allow the streaming of the iTunes Festival. With the festival due to begin on March 11, the release of iOS 7.1 is imminent if the SXSW app, which require the new update, is to allow viewing of the performances.
iOS 7.1 also represents a significant number of bug fixes and stability improvements that have been in the works for several months. In addition, a number of new user interface features, such as modified icons, are also contained within the update. The update itself has been in Developer testing since November of last year and has gone through several beta iterations. It is worth noting however, that a GM, or Gold Master build, has not yet been seeded to Developers, although a release will come very soon after this takes place.
