Apple today posted a new job advertisement looking to employ an exercise physiologist (via 9to5Mac). However, shortly after posting on to the Apple Jobs site, the advertisement was very quickly pulled. The position was looking for an expert who is able to run studies relating to cardiovascular fitness and energy expenditure, metabolic rate, aerobic fitness and other physiological measurements. The new position apparently would have contributed to product design and testing/validation of devices.
The job posting is interesting as it came in the context of recent rumors concerning the iWatch and its rumored focus on fitness and health. With the new position clearly emphasising a novel direction for the company in terms of health monitoring, it is clear that Apple is preparing to launch something that will change the market.
