A new report is today suggesting that Apple will be holding another media event to introduce the iPad 5, the iPad mini 2, and a slew of new Mac models. According to French site MacGeneration, the date of the next Apple event is touted to be October 15, which is a Tuesday. The rumor is a little dodgy as the text in the report (via Google translate) says that ‘according to the latest gossip, Apple will hold a new special event on October 15′. There’s no word on the source or the veracity of the information.
The report suggests that, because iMac stock levels are allegedly extremely low in physical retail stores at the moment, the iMac will receive an update with new Haswell chips. This information is actually relatively consistent with previous reports from other sources that Apple would release new iMacs and MacBook Pro models equipped with Haswell processors to follow up the release of the 2013 MacBook Air with all day battery life.
In addition to these releases, Apple is also expected to release OS X 10.9 Mavericks, as well as a brand new Mac Pro, this Fall. Therefore, the date proposed might be not too far off the mark, despite the fact that it appears to be sourced from gossip.
