A new article today reports that Apple has been targeted by the same group of hackers which attacked Facebook last week, according to Reuters. The article says that a small number of Mac computers owned by Apple employees were compromised by the hacker attacks by exploiting a flaw in Java. Apple was apparently not the only company affected by the attack but the details of other companies were not offered.
In a statement provided to The Loop, Apple notes that has identified the malware reponsible and that it was spread through a site for software developers. The affected Macs were apparently isolated from the Apple network and there is no evidence that any data was released from Apple. The comment also notes that the company is working to find the source of the attack and that a Java malware removal tool update will be released today to deal with any malware found in Mac systems.
