A new bug has been identified in iOS 6.1 that allows users to bypass the numerical lock screen on the iPhone to gain access to the iPhone itself. The bug was spotted by Jailbreak Nation who have posted a ‘how-to’ guide in order that users can identify the bug themselves. The glitch itself is based on a user, or indeed malicious user, entering a complicated string of commands when the iPhone is locked, including inputting and dialing an emergency number such as 911 or 999.
The bug has gained significant coverage and, as such, it’s likely Apple will be keenly aware of it and working on a fix. This fix will likely be released as part of either iOS 6.1.1 or iOS 6.1.2 in the coming weeks.
