A new analyst report is suggesting that Apple is gearing up to host an event next month at which they will reportedly discuss a new Software Developer Kit for the long rumored Apple Television (via MacRumors). The report comes from Jefferies analyst Peter Misek who has apparently sourced the information from ‘channel checks’, suggesting that while the Apple Television will likely not appear at the event, it is definitely Apple TV related and is likely related to the launch of a new SDK.
The analyst believes that the event will lead on to a launch of an iTV or Apple Television set in September or October 2013. The iPad and iPad mini will reportedly receive an update around the same time. Misek further suggests that when the Apple television does eventually launch, it will be between 42″ and 55″ in size. The price of the new television will apparently be set at around $1500.
In addition, Misek has indicated that Apple would be looking to launch an iPhone 6 in mid-2014 rather than this year as had been previously rumored. This is being attributed to bottlenecks in processor production, moving to new display technologies and the development of a new revamped version of iOS.
Finally, the report predicts that the iPhone 5S and a less expensive iPhone will be launching in June or July of this year, consistent with prior rumors.
Update: Well sourced Jim Dalrymple of Loop Insight says “Nope” to this event.
