Apple Awards €10,000 Gift Card To Buyer Of 25 Billionth iTunes Song

iTunes 11

Apple today announced that a significant milestone in the context of the iTunes Store had been reached in the sale of the 25 billionth song download. The company announced in a press release that the buyer of the song was Philip Lüpke from Germany who, in a unadvertised offer, received a €10,000 iTunes gift card from Apple as part of the celebration.

In March last year Apple offered a $10,000 iTunes gift card to Chunli Fu, who downloaded the 25 billionth app from the App Store. Apple also announced last month that the App Store had hit the 40 billion download milestone, with half of that number occuring in 2012. That means that the App Store will likely hit 50 billion downloads this year and the company may offer a similar promotion.
