Apple has just posted a press release announcing that they are launching a 128GB version of the fourth generation iPad with Retina Display. According to the press release, the new device will be made available on Tuesday, February 5th for $799 (Wi-Fi Only model) in the US Apple Store. The Wi-Fi + Cellular model will retail for $929 and will launch at the same time through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores and through third-party Apple resellers. The new iPad offers twice the existing storage capacity for the Retina Display iPad and the iPad mini.
Rumors had circulated surrounding a 128 GB iOS device launch ever since references to iOS devices with 128GB of storage were located in an iOS 6.1 beta build. Additionally, an accurate report from yesterday had pointed towards the iPad as being the device that would be updated with the extra capacity.
As with the existing iPad models with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities, the new model incorporates the new Lightning connector as well as a A6X processor, 5 megapixel camera and ten hour battery.
