Another analyst has jumped on board the Apple ‘iRadio’ prediction train and is suggesting that Apple will be launching a new music streaming service at some point this year. This prediction comes from analyst Richard Greenfield of BTIG (spotted by MacRumors), who does not have any hard evidence to support his prediction, but suggests that Apple will be incorporating iRadio into the iTunes iOS app, with functionality that is similar to Pandora.
The analyst also suggests that the new functionality will have close integration with ticket and merchandise purchasing services like Ticketmaster or Live Nation. The prediction follows previous rumors that Apple was in the middle of negotiations to bring the iRadio service to fruition, despite some tricky negotiations with music content providers.
The prediction also conflicts with a report from last month which suggested that deals with content providers, like Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, were actually nowhere near being signed and that iRadio would not make an appearance any time soon.
