A new rumor is suggesting that the next version of the iPad, the fifth generation of the device, could be released to the public in March 2013. The report comes from Macotakara who are citing a Chinese news source (Zol) pointing towards the release date in three months time. The report also goes on to say that the new iPad will have a dramatically revised design that will be taking inspiration from that of the iPad mini.
According to the article, the new iPad will have significant reductions in height, depth and width, and yet still retain the same screen size and resolution. This translates to a full size iPad that is thinner, lighter and with narrower screen borders than the current version.
The report may not be too far off base, particularly since the original iPad, the iPad 2 and the third generation iPad were all released at this time of year. Only the fourth generation iPad with a new processor and Lightning connector deviated from a Spring release.
The report also points towards work starting on the next generation iPad mini which will reportedly have a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and an A6X processor.
