The next iteration of the OS X operating system, OS X 10.9, has made its first appearance in analytics logs of several sites around the web. First spotted by 9to5Mac, and LetemSvetemApplem, the as-yet-unreleased operating system for the Mac is apparently being sporadically used within the Apple campus in California.
It’s notable that it is indeed possible to fake the version number of the operating system, but there’s essentially no evidence to suggest either way in this instance. In any case, it would seem pretty likely that Apple is indeed well into testing the new operating system, particularly as similar results were found with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion prior to its release during the OS X 10.7 Lion life cycle.
Perhaps the most interesting bit of speculation will be as to the new name of the 10.9 operating system.
