Apple has today released the latest version of its software for mobile devices, iOS 6. The highly anticipated update for iPad, iPhone and iPod brings over 200 new features to Apple mobile devices and is available free of charge now. Some of the exciting new features include a brand new Maps app with Turn by Turn directions, Siri for iPad, a new Passbook app as well as new functionality related to iCloud and PhotoStream, phone functions and full Facebook integration.
The new software can be used on all generations of the iPad, the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and upcoming iPhone 5, as well as the fourth generation iPod touch onward. The release of iOS 6 comes just two days in advance of the release of the new iPhone 5 which will arrive in stores on Friday. The iPhone 5 will also be shipping with iOS 6 pre-installed.
The company also released an update to the Mac operating system, OS X, bringing the software up to version 10.8.2. The latest update brings with it a number of bug fixes as well as new features like full Facebook integration, additional dictation languages and a Game Center app. The software also supports full integration with iOS 6 on mobile devices.
