The iPad Mini Will Get A Unique Event And Be Called ‘iPad Mini’ (Surprisingly)

The new iPad mini, as it has been termed in the media up until now, will actually be called the iPad mini and will be getting its own unique launch event in October, according to two separate reports. Following on from earlier suggestions that the iPad mini would not appear at the iPhone 5 launch event on September 12, instead making an appearance at a dedicated event in October, AllThingsD has come forward to say that they have done their own reporting and sources are saying the initial suggestions are accurate.

Apple will, in fact, be holding a second event in October at which they will unveil the iPad mini, at least a month after they have taken the wraps off the iPhone 5. There is no word given on the source of AllThingsD’s information, but the initial suggestion of an October event was backed up by ol’ reliable Jim Dalrymple.

The second piece of information that has emerged about the iPad mini, is that it will, to nobody’s great surprise, actually be called the iPad mini. This is according to Macotakara who are saying that the new device will have iPad printed on the rear panel of the device, in case you were in any doubt as to whether it was a big-ass iPod touch.  Obviously this would also disappoint anyone who was hoping for the ‘iPad Air’ name.
