Awesome New Yorker Magazine iOS App Gets iPhone Compatibility

The New Yorker app is now compatible with the iPhone following a recent update of the iOS App, which was previously iPad only. The latest update to the app, released yesterday, brings the version number to 4.0 and allows users who have an iPhone to read the magazine in a dedicated format for the device. To celebrate the release of the iPhone compatible app, the New Yorker is offering one issue free to all those who download the app. In addition, there is a brand new video for the iPhone edition with John Hamm and Lena Dunham, giving some amusing instructions on how to use the app.

The New Yorker is generally published every week (47 issues per year) together with some special subject-focused issues throughout the year (the latest collection was focused on health for instance). The magazine itself is a fantastic collection of informative news articles, essays, fiction and commentary and can be subscribed to through an in-app purchase for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year.

The app itself is a pleasure to use and, to be honest, is pretty much how all magazine apps on the iPad should be designed, with simple navigation and clear text. You can check out the new app here, free of charge.

Fantastic…
