Apple Updates Apple TV Software With Hulu Plus

Apple has very quietly released an update for the Apple TV that now offers Hulu Plus as another app on the device. As spotted by MacRumors, and announced on the Hulu Plus website, a new button has appeared on the user interface for the Apple TV which allows users to enter their Hulu Plus login details and access their library on Apple TV.

Hulu Plus is an alternative to the Netflix streaming service which is already available on the Apple TV, but with a focus on recent TV shows and series, rather than offering the extensive movie collection that comprises the Netflix library. Currently the service is only available to US subscribers, but the addition to the Apple TV brings the device into line with other devices that Hulu is offered on, such as Roku and XBox. International subscribers can be reassured, however, that Hulu is working to bring the service to other countries.

If it isn’t on your Apple TV yet, restart your device to trigger the software update. Given the oft-criticized ‘bargain basement’ selection offered by its competitors, Hulu Plus may just be the thing for you.
