A new report is suggesting that the highly anticipated iPhone 5 will be unleashed upon the public at an event on September 12th 2012. According to iMore, Apple will be holding an event on Wednesday September 12th where the new iPhone 5 will be unveiled alongside the the much rumored iPad mini. The site also suggests that on September 21, 2012, nine days after event, the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini be released for purchase.
The dates apparently come from sources that have proven reliable in the past, but no other information has been given, and certainly, no announcement has yet been made by Apple. There is no word on whether the launch event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, a venue that has been used by Apple in the past, or whether the Moscone Center in San Francisco will be utilized. Indeed, Apple may even conduct the launch at the media center of their own campus.
The Fall release of a new iPhone and iPad would fit with previous rumors that Apple would be looking to make a big impact with their Fall event. Indeed, other devices such a 13 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display as well as new iMac and iPod models have also been rumored for this event. In addition, if the date of the event proves to be true, Apple will also be expected to release the next generation iOS 6 software for all compatible iOS devices alongside the new iPhone.
Of course the new iPhone, along with the iPad Mini has yet to be unveiled, and yet to be named, so it’ll be interesting to see what Apple comes up with.
