For many years, the UK domain for the Apple Store has been www.apple.com/uk, but now Apple has now taken control of the domain apple.co.uk. The company apparently gained the domain at the start of this month and the new domain has started redirecting to Apple’s own website (spotted by MacRumors). Previously, the domain was owned by an illustration company by the name of Apple Illustration, but this company has changed their website to appleagency.co.uk.
There are no details available on the transfer of the domain or what cost, if any, there was to Apple to acquire the domain. At least now, anyone who hits up apple.co.uk will be directed towards the Apple Store, rather than elsewhere.
