Rumor: Shaved Down 7.85 Inch iPad Has Brazilian Origins

A new report is suggesting that a 7.85 inch ‘iPad mini’, a device that has taken up several inches of blogging space recently, will be produced in Brazil. According to Macotakara, the components for the device will actually be manufactured in China, but the production line will be in Brazil. The report also goes on to suggest, consistent with prior rumors, that production of the device will ramp up in September, and that the device will go on sale to the public during the holiday season i.e. before the end of the year.

The site also suggests that the device will have 3G connectivity, and that the form factor of the new iPad mini is thought to be as thin as the iPod touch, and even thinner than the Kindle Fire. The source of the information also suggests that design cues have been taken from the iPod nano.

While evidence and speculation about the device has waxed and waned recently, more and more articles seem to be pointing towards the Fall of this year for the launch of the device.
