A new report has noted that the 27 inch versions of the iMac are showing some significant shortages in third party re-sellers. According to AppleInsider, the resellers that are showing shortages are Best Buy, Amazon, MacMall and J&R. The timing is interesting given the recent introduction of the Intel Ivy Bridge processors and their inclusion in the revised MacBook Pro and new Retina Display enabled MacBook Pro, as well as the latest edition of the MacBook Air.
Recent rumors have suggested that Apple would be introducing a new iMac in October. However, contradictions exist between sites that have suggested that the new models would sport a Retina Display and those that say that it won’t.
The current shortage does not appear to apply to Apple however, and if indeed a new model iMac will be introduced in October, it’s unlikely that stock shortages would start to appear so far in advance.
Update: Put this rumor in the ‘bullshit’ category
