Apple is apparently testing a new banner notification system for iCloud.com and seems to have revealed part of the test on the iCloud website, according to a new report from MacRumors. According to the image that they captured (displayed above), a test message is sometimes appearing at the top of the page on iCloud.com for some users. The message shows the text ‘Default Title for English’ indicating that it’s something that has perhaps slipped out during testing and is not yet fully implemented.
It is also worth noting that the icon that is next to the message suggests that this could be a notification system for system messages, perhaps for iCloud status updates. However, the company may be looking to implement banner notifications for all of the services that are offered by iCloud, such as Mail, Calendar or shared iWork documents.
Given that iCloud notifications are already part of Notification Center in the next version of the Mac operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, as well as iOS 5, Apple could be looking to bring the pleasure obtained from seeing said banner notifications to users of iCloud wherever they are (including on a Windows PC). However, this could simply be a system status notification mechanism and therefore would not be visible very often.
