The successful music streaming service Spotify has today launched a dedicated iPad app, available free on the iOS App Store now. The launch of the app means that Spotify users who pay for a Premium account, the highest level of package offered, can receive streamed music via a dedicated app on their iPad. The app is free for anyone who wants to download it from the App Store but you’ll have to have a premium account with Spotify if you want to use it – Free and Unlimited Spotify accounts don’t work with it.
Spotify, originally launched in 2008, currently offers over 18 million songs and already has dedicated Mac and iPhone applications. The new app for the iPad provides Retina Display compatibility, high definition cover art in a ‘Now Playing’ view, social media integration, gapless playback and crossfade and, perhaps best of all for iPad users, integration with AirPlay.
If you wish to try out the app without having to subscribe to the premium service then you can always sign up for the free 30 day trial of the Spotify Premium service.
