iPad 2 And iPhone 4S Jailbreak Is Unleashed

The long awaited jailbreak for A5-powered devices has finally arrived with the launch of the jailbreak ‘Absinthe A5′ by the Chronic Dev Team and jailbreak author pod2g. The jailbreak is based upon the Greenpois0n platform and allows users to jailbreak their iPad 2 and iPhone 4S (via 9to5Mac). The jailbreak itself is ‘untethered’ meaning that users can jailbreak without having to tether their device to their Mac for a reboot.

The jailbreak program Absinthe has initially been released for OS X, but Windows and Linux versions are reportedly in the works. The jailbreak works on iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1.

If you do decide to jailbreak your A5 device then you can find the site for the jailbreak here. Be aware though, that it will void your warranty and it is not 100% safe in terms of stability. But, if you are at the stage where you are looking to jailbreak your device then you probably already know that and are going to take the minimal risk on board anyway.
