Apple has today announced that they will be holding an event at which there will be an ‘education announcement’ on January 19th in New York City. The company sent out media invitations to the event to a number of media contacts (including The Loop), and is holding the event at the Guggenheim Museum.
At the event, the company is expected to be announcing new innovations relating to textbooks and perhaps even publishing. Word of the event first appeared last week. Speculation has been rife on what the announcement will actually involve. Given the rumored publishing angle, we speculated that the event would somehow link iWork ’12 with a new publishing platform, in addition to an iBooks presence coming to the Mac.
More random suggestions have included a budget, lower-priced iPad for students and children.
