Rumor: Apple Will Unveil The iPhone 5 At October 4th Event

Apple will reportedly unveil the new iPhone 5 at an event that is scheduled to be held on the 4th October 2011, according to a new rumor that comes from AllThingsD.  The date apparently comes from sources who are ‘close to the situation’.  There is no word yet on where the event will take place.  The event will apparently be hosted by new Apple CEO Tim Cook although other members of the Apple Senior Management team, such as Phil Schiller and Eddy Cue, are expected to make an appearance.

“While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the October 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.”

The location remains a bit of a mystery.  A quick check of the calendar of Yerba Buena Center For The Arts shows a number of other events taking place at the venue that has historically been used by Apple on numerous occasions.  The Moscone Center is also hosting an Oracle event on that day, which would make one wonder if Apple would be hosting the media event at their own campus.

With the event rumored for the 4th October, it’s likely that invitations will start arriving around 26th-27th September so there won’t be long to wait to find out.

Eventful…
