German carrier Deutsche Telecom, owner of the T-Mobile brand, has begun offering customers the ability to pre-order an iPhone 5, according to Bloomburg who received confirmation of the new news. Despite the fact that Apple hasn’t released any details on the device, or even if it exists, the German carrier is giving customers a coupon which can be used against the iPhone 5 when it is released.
The reason for the pre-order is that the carrier is worried about supply issues when the device finally launches and that pre-orders are the best way to avoid this. The news comes hot on the heels of reports that Best Buy will start accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on the Sprint network starting from October.
The iPhone 5 is rumored to be announced by Apple later this month and the company is expected to accept pre-orders, or indeed orders themselves, in the first half of October.
