A new report from the Wall Street Journal is suggesting that the release date of the iPad 3 is scheduled to be sometime in early 2012. The report also indicates that the device will have a high resolution 2048 x 1536 pixel Retina Display which is quadruple the pixel density of the current display featured in the original iPad and iPad 2. The report is sourced from ‘people familiar with the situation’ but stops short of detailing how familiar they are.The report also suggests that the iPad 3 had originally been scheduled for a 2011 launch but that display screen issues had pushed the launch timetable back until 2012. There are no specifics given on what month the ‘early 2012′ statement refers to, but the report is consistent with previous rumors placing the launch of the iPad 3 in early 2012.
Until contrary information appears, it therefore seems that ‘people familiar with the situation’ will have to do.
