Ahead of an upcoming and rumored refresh of the MacBook Air, Amazon UK has ceased shipping the 11 inch 64 GB model of the 2010 model of MacBook Air, citing stock shortages. As reports of an OS X 10.7 Lion release this Wednesday (8:30 EST) alongside new MacBook Airs circulate, it appears as if major third party seller, such as Amazon UK, are beginning to feel the pinch of stock shortages.
While it should be noted that Apple’s own website is still showing fast shipping times for the MacBook Air, the likelihood of a MacBook Air refresh starts to look very likely with information coming thick and fast from various sources about stock shortages, unopened packages in Apple Retail Stores and new promotional materials. The Airs were originally thought to have been destined for a release last week but this did not appear amid speculation that Apple was still making preparations to launch Lion on the Mac App Store, a massive digital distribution effort.
So, just to clarify, it’s probably not the best idea to drop some cash on a new Air this week.
