Steve Jobs To Deliver WWDC Keynote On iCloud, iOS 5 And OS X 10.7 Lion

Apple has today announced that Steve Jobs will give the keynote presentation for the WWDC meeting in San Francisco due to commence on June 6th. As expected, the presentation by Jobs will likely reveal the launch date for the iOS 5 mobile operating system and OS X 10.7 Lion for Mac. Apple has also tantalizingly announced that they will preview the new iCloud service. The text release can be found here and will make any Apple user happy.

“At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; and iCloud, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering”

While the unveiling of iOS 5 and OS X 10.7 was expected for WWDC, the iCloud offering was still a question mark until the Apple announcement.  The launch of the service, reputed to carry the full weight of the US music industry is sure to be an exciting event.

The key feature of the iCloud launch will certainly be the pricing, which rumors have placed at somewhere between $20 and $100 per year.  Given that it is a cloud storage system, expect it to be closer to the $20 as users will have already purchased the tracks that will potentially be used by the system.

Despite the fact that Apple developers have been given free previews of the new Lion operating system for Mac, this will be the first time that iOS 5 has been shown so it’s unclear what features Apple will be incorporating into their new operating system for mobile devices.
