Getting Your iPad 2 Order May Take Weeks

The success of the iPad 2 is its own enemy when when it comes to getting the device into the hands of consumers who desperately want one. While potential shoppers can try to grab one when Apple Stores and a limited number of third party retailers start selling them tonight at 5pm, the online ordering system for the iPad 2 opened this morning at 4am EST and already, some orders aren’t expected to be shipped for 2-3 weeks.

Other anecdotal reports are suggesting that the supplies to third party retailers like Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Target are extremely limited, so if you are heading out today to get one, be prepared for disappointment.  Be aware that there is a limit of two devices per order on the Apple online store and this may extend to retail stores as well.

Best advice is to head out now and pack a flask of coffee.
