A new rumor is circulating today that the white iPhone 4 may finally make an appearance some time in April, potentially at the rumored iOS 5 / MobileMe event expected in the first part of the month. According to Concord Securities analyst and Vice President, Ming-Chi Kuo, the white iPhone 4 is going into production this month (via AppleInsider)
The white iPhone 4 was originally supposed to ship at the same time as the black iPhone 4 but delays that were reported to be due to white paint mismatch and light leakage have resulted in multiple delays of the highly sought after device. However, if the paint mismatch between the home button and the front panel was indeed a problem, it appears as if Apple has solved that particular issue with the launch of the white iPad 2.
As with all analyst predictions, this one has to be taken with caution although Ming-Chi Kuo has previously correctly predicted the camera specifications for the iPad 2. Whether or not this information is accurate will of course be determined in April although, as 9to5Mac points out, it seems strange that the white iPhone 4 wouldn’t be released at the iPhone 5 event in June. It is also not clear if this will simply be a white version of the current iPhone 4 or if Apple will be making any tweaks to the device to make it more appealing for consumers i.e. 64Gb storage.
