With the imminent release of the iPad 2, expected to be announced at the Apple media event in San Francisco on Wednesday of this week, new images and parts are starting to leak to the media. Two bombshell images dropped this morning, the first of which comes from 9to5Mac. The image shows what appears to be the white bezel of an iPad 2, convincingly showing a camera hole in the correct place to apparently fit leaked third party iPad 2 cases.
While a white iPad has been rumored for a long time, there was uncertainty over whether Apple would actually release one simply because of the long delayed white iPhone 4 which has still not made an appearance. While the image of the white iPad 2 bezel does look genuine, the single hole raises the question that if Apple is including a front facing camera in the iPad 2, where will the ambient light sensor be positioned? Have Apple figured out a way to combine the two?
The second image comes from BoyGeniusReport who were sent a very convincing photo of what appears to be an iPad 2 in it’s entirety. The image itself is either genuine or probably the best Photoshopped mockup of the iPad 2 that we have seen thus far. Either way, if it turns out to be genuine or not, it is a likely representation of what the iPad 2 will actually look like based on the evidence to date.
Apple is expected to announce the iPad 2 at a media event on Wednesday 2nd March at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. While none of the specifications are yet known for the iPad 2 (no confirmation of the device even exists), the second generation iPad is anticipated to have FaceTime compatibility, a slimmer and lighter construction, and upgraded processor and memory.
