Apple Announces Media Event For iPad 2 Launch On March 2nd

The rumors regarding the iPad 2 announcement have had it spot on. According to The Loop, Apple has just issued media invitations for an event at the Yerba Buena Center on at 10am PST on the 2nd March to announce the second generation iPad 2. As can be seen from the image above, the promotional invitation shows the calendar date of the 2nd March with an iPad in the background.

Several rumors had been circulating recently which put the announcement for the iPad 2 on the 2nd March, despite the fact that some analysts had projected delays in excess of one month for the iPad release.  These were swiftly debunked and, as a result of today’s announcement it can be seen that Apple is apparently right on schedule. Other clues pointing to a launch soon were the fact that shortages in stocks of the original iPad had been reported in various parts of the world.

The iPad 2 is thought to have many upgrades over the first generation iPad such as thinner form factor, increased storage, front and rear cameras and a better speaker. Increased processing power and memory are also expected but Retina Display is not thought to be a part of the iPad 2.

The wait is over.
