A book called ‘iWork ’11: Pages, Keynote and Numbers for Mac and iPad’ originally slated for release in December and then subsequently February, has now been updated on the Amazon.co.uk website to show a release date of March 2011. This may therefore indicate a revised release schedule for the highly anticipated iWork ’11 suite.
In the past this German language book has obviously been a relatively unreliable predictor of an iWork ’11 release date especially given that the publication date has been pushed back twice. iWork ’11 was initially slated to appear with the Mac App Store but users were disappointed to find that no news of iWork ’11 came with the new App Store.
With Microsoft’s Office 2011 now firmly established (and even updated), Apple must be eager to get iWork ’11 out as soon as possible to users who were hoping for a 2010 release. Minor rumors and discoveries such as an updated 2011 Keynote icon and a page on the Mac App Store for iWork ’11 have suggested that Apple is working on a new release of the software, but aside from these, there is very little evidence that an iWork release is imminent.
However, Apple loves to surprise so we can look forward to the next media event where there may be some news. In case anyone hadn’t noticed, iWork ’09 is getting pretty frickin old.
